Hi! I’m Gabriela Marassa, founder of Andante Travel Experiences!
Since I was a child, I’ve been curious about exploring the planet we inhabit, and that curiosity was fueled by the great encouragement my parents gave me to go through life chasing dreams. One of those dreams was to work on a cruise ship and feel the wind on my body while sailing—and I made it!
I worked for over five years at Carnival Cruise Lines, one of the largest cruise companies in the world, visiting dream ports across the Americas, the Caribbean, and Europe. As soon as I stepped off the ships, I opened my own travel agency. I wanted to keep exploring the world, but this time based on solid ground.
Then came my children, and my primary focus became being a mother, which kept me away for many years from the profession—not just as a travel agent, but also as a traveler. However, in the middle of those years of motherhood, in 2014, when the desire to explore outweighed routine and my soul needed space, I set up a motorhome in an old bus, started my jewelry-making workshop on board, enrolled my children in distance learning programs, and we set out to travel across Latin America! One of the best years of our lives.
Over time, my passion naturally found its course again: the children grew up, my time became my own, and everything fell into place so I could set out once more and continue exploring the world.
Today, I organize trips with the experience gained from all I’ve traveled, adding new journeys each year that I’m delighted to share with others—those who feel that, regardless of where we were born, we are all wanderers, inhabitants of a planet full of wonders, and it is a true privilege to go out and experience it.
The trips are group-based because I’ve discovered the richness of exchanging experiences with others, and how enriching it is for the journey to have the different contributions each person brings. But the groups are small—only 10 spots per trip—to enhance that sense of connection, not only with the geography but also with the people.
The destinations were chosen with this in mind: places you might not go to alone, but should experience at least once in your life before leaving this wonderful world.
